Olivia Warrant Checks
Work the Olivia channels in order. Write each answer down. No single office holds the whole warrant picture.
- Find the citation, case, or warrant number on the notice in front of you.
- Check the county active warrant listing for a matching published row.
- Search the case by number in state court records.
- Call Court Administration at 320-523-3680 about the case and the warrant event.
- Call Sheriff Records at 320-523-3794 about law-enforcement status.
- File a written request only when a document is the missing piece.
A clear Olivia result is not a clearance. The county's published table carries no status column, so it cannot show what changed after the last update.
Olivia's Justice Campus and Warrant Files
Olivia's justice campus spans three county buildings. The courthouse at 500 E. DePue Ave. holds the District Court and Court Administration on the third level. The Government Services Center at 105 S. 5th St. houses the Sheriff's Office and Records in Suite 210. The jail sits at 104 4th St. S. Booking and custody happen there. Each building answers a different warrant question. Court and records business runs weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., so call or visit on any business day. The county campus map marks the courthouse lots, visitor and short-term parking, entrances, and the office levels inside each building.
Olivia is the county seat. That puts the court, the clerk's records, and the sheriff all in one small downtown.
Why Olivia City Hall Cannot Clear Warrants
Olivia has no municipal court of its own. Minnesota folds city ordinance offenses into the statewide case system, and the district court sets which offenses are payable and at what local amount. The City of Olivia posts no city police number and no city payment route. Without a published number, guessing one helps nobody. The working fallbacks sit at the county level. Use the courthouse, Sheriff Records, or county dispatch instead.
Policing and Courts in Olivia
Olivia is not one of the four cities where the county contracts with the sheriff for policing. No city police page is posted either. Both the city and the county operate here. An Olivia citation or arrest can involve either agency. What never changes is the court. Criminal, traffic, ordinance, family, juvenile, and civil matters filed in this county all belong to the Renville County District Court at the courthouse. Ask the court about the case and the sheriff about the law-enforcement record. An Olivia question at city hall covers only the city's own paperwork.
Warrants in Olivia: The Main Types
Most Olivia warrant questions trace back to one of a handful of situations.

| Appearance warrant | A missed court date or unmet condition | District court judge |
| Probation violation | An alleged violation of sentence conditions | District court judge |
| Arrest warrant | A charge filed with probable cause | District court judge |
| Sign-and-release warrant | An eligible failure to appear | District court under state statute |
| Civil attachment | A family or civil order that was not followed | District court judge |
Olivia Warrant Counter at 500 DePue
Court Administration sits on the courthouse's third level. It is the Olivia office that can describe a case file, from hearings and case events to payments and what the court expects next. Olivia's weekly public calendar posts at 7:00 a.m. each business day. It updates hourly. It is not a warrant list, though. A missing entry does not mean a hearing was cancelled. Parking is free in the courthouse lots and on the street in Olivia. The campus map marks the handicap entrances, and the court publishes accommodation and language-access routes.
Olivia Warrant Records: What They Show
Olivia warrant records carry a short list of fields. Here is what each one tells you.
| Warrant number | A case-style identifier, shown as WARRANT-ID-REDACTED here. Use the exact value when you call. |
|---|---|
| Name and date of birth | The subject fields the county prints. They are sensitive, and they are not enough on their own. |
| Date of warrant | The issue date, not an expiration date. |
| Bond or bail amount | A dollar figure, including zero, with no conditions attached. |
| Offense level | Felony, gross misdemeanor, or misdemeanor. |
| Description | Plain-language text that may cover a charge, a traffic matter, or an appearance problem. |
| Status, judge, agency | Not published. Those answers come from the court file and the sheriff. |
Olivia's Historic 1902 Courthouse
Olivia has held the county seat since 1900, after an earlier courthouse era in Beaver Falls. Fremont D. Orff designed the present red-brick courthouse. It went up in 1902 for $88,000. Federal work-relief repairs in 1933 and later preservation work left most of the exterior intact. Local Olivia history fills the building. Olivia's courthouse still issues and recalls warrants today. Paper records are not the only route into an Olivia case file. The state offers remote case access, courthouse public terminals, and certified copies through Court Administration, each with its own limits.
Olivia Warrants and Renville County
An Olivia case becomes a county case at the courthouse door. The district court issues and recalls the warrant, the sheriff publishes the county list and confirms law-enforcement status, and the jail takes custody after an arrest. Each office holds one piece.
Warrant flow: Olivia citation or charge › Renville County District Court › Sheriff list and service › Jail or court resolution.
The county warrant records overview covers the full system: warrant types, access rules, and the steps that follow a missed appearance. It is the wider Olivia picture.
Clearing an Olivia Warrant in Order
Clearing an Olivia warrant follows a sequence. Skipping a step is how people end up facing a warrant they thought was already handled.
Caution: a person may be taken into custody when appearing in person with an active warrant. Call the court and speak with an attorney before traveling.
- Identify the case and the event that triggered the warrant.
- Ask the court whether the matter is payable, bond-required, sign-and-release, or set for a hearing.
- Complete the step the court names, whether that is a payment, a motion, or an appearance.
- Ask Sheriff Records how the law-enforcement status changes and when the list refreshes.
- Keep the receipt or order until the underlying case ends.
Accessing Olivia Warrant Records
Most Olivia case data is public. Inspection of public records is free, the exceptions are narrow, and paper copies of 100 or fewer pages run 25 cents each.
Key rules:
Minnesota Statutes §13.03 presumes government data are public and sets inspection and copy rules.
Minnesota Statutes §13.82 keeps unserved warrant index data confidential until custody, service, or an appearance.
Minnesota Statutes §260B.171 limits juvenile court records, which are not part of the adult warrant list.
Searching Olivia Cases in MCRO
The state case system offers case, document, hearing, and judgment searches, and for an Olivia matter the case or citation number is the reliable key. Name searches have a known gap. Pending criminal cases often will not come back in a defendant name search. Exact-name matching, an asterisk wildcard, and a Sounds Like option can widen the net, and the courthouse terminal in Olivia shows more than remote access does. Certified copies for Olivia cases come from Court Administration. The online system will not issue them; the state case-record page explains the difference.
